When Modify co-founders Audrey Traum & Diane Precht met at a Philadelphia salon in 2002, the rest as they say was history. Aside from their collaborative work dynamic, the two women have also found a rare partnership that celebrates diversity in style and in hair - creating a welcoming atmosphere for true expression and authenticity.
Mastery, creativity, and passion - these three fundamentals are the backbone of our stylists. Through a client’s vision and trust, we treat every individual person’s hair as our own personal canvas. From the classics to the latest techniques in hair cuts, hair styles, and hair color, we strive to cultivate meaningful relationships with clients through our knowledge and expertise. When we see you walk out of the door exuding nothing but the utmost confidence, we know our job here at Modify is done.
About the owners
The business of hair began as a family affair for Modify co-owner of Diane Precht. Having spent her formative years at a relative’s salon in the South Street Headhouse District, the emerging hair apprentice paved her way to a dual profession in salon management and hair artistry. Diane then went on to study at the Fashion Institute of Design in Los Angeles, followed by the Wella Institute and the Paul Mitchell Academy to become a cosmetology instructor. A lifetime of opportunities soon unfolded, launching her career as a highly sought-after production stylist for the Academy of Music, Forrest and Merriam Theaters in Philadelphia. Her personal experiences from jet setting all over the globe and notorious love for eclectic fashion are translated into the hairstyles of her clients here at Modify. From kinky and curly styles to razor sharp precision, Diane’s diverse set of clientele speaks for her unparalleled expertise of almost thirty years. A firm believer of never staying comfortable, she upholds her jack of all trades reputation as a graduate of The Art of Business and as a mainstay in hair workshops, with the likes of Michael Jay, KEVIN.MURPHY, and Arrojo NYC.
From a classic conservative bob to a wicked rainbow mohawk, Audrey Traum is a highly sought after Philadelphia hair maven that knows no limits or boundaries. Since 2001, her highly trained eye and keen ability to understand any client’s vision has never failed to mirror their hair dreams into reality. Her inclination for strong visual elements paired with the importance of celebrating an individual’s sense of style lays the groundwork for her passion as a hairstylist. The Modify co-owner’s generous and curious nature has allowed her to become both a teacher and a student - from educating other stylists on the subjects of cuttings g, styling, and color, to participating in multiple workshops in the tri-state area (crediting Vidal Sassoon, Pravana, & Kevin Murphy as her favorites). As a recent graduate of The Community College of Philadelphia’s Power Up Your Business Program, she isn’t only one to watch out for as a salon industry game changer - but also as a discerning mentor for any aspiring hairstylist in the tri-state area.
